Academic Integrity

Academic integrity is taken quite seriously at Boston College and by the dean and faculty of the School of Theology and Ministry, in particular.Ìý CSTM abides by the University policy on academic integrity to be found inÌý.Ìý The roles and responsibilities of students, faculty, and deans with regard to promoting academic integrity can also be found inÌýthe University Graduate Catalog.Ìý CSTM students are strongly encouraged to become familiar with these policies and procedures, as they are held responsible for this knowledge.Ìý Students with questions regarding what constitutes a violation of Boston College’s Academic Integrity Policy, especially with regard to specific courses and assignments, are invited and encouraged to ask these questions of their professors and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

TMST7081: Writing and Research for Theology and Ministry

Usually offered every semester during the academic year, this course uses students’ writing assignments from other courses to teach the student how best to approach the various kinds of writing assignments most commonly given by CSTM faculty: theological reflection papers, research papers, weekly readings-based papers, etc. It also can help students prepare for larger projects such as theses and synthesis projects. This course is useful both for ESL students as well as students wanting to master writing skills in theology on a graduate level.

Connors Family Learning Center

Offers writing tutoring in person and online. Also offers some ESL services with regard to writing and speaking.Ìý

An education at the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry provides knowledge, formation, andÌýskills that areÌýassets in many fields. In addition to traditional ministries, many students work in medicine, business, and education. Placement services guide students in seeking a vocational path that is appropriate to their particular interests and talents.

Graduates ofÌýthe CSTM serve in a variety of ministries. The associate dean of student affairs provides personalized placement assistance, publishes an annual Resume BookÌýof CSTM graduates sent to over one hundred employers nationwide, and works with the Boston College Career Center to tailor workshops to the needs of CSTM students.Ìý Employment notices are posted regularly on the CSTM Web site so that prospective graduates have access to the most up-to-date job opportunities from employers seeking STM graduates. Faculty mentors begin working with students who plan to continue for doctoral studies as early as the student’s first semester.Ìý CSTM students gain admission to many of the world’s most selective doctoral programs. This testifies to the quality of a CSTM education, the caliber of the student body, and the school’s thorough placement process.
